From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers growing in power within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party access places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Questers and Strategists groups.
